Old Bridge Lane Covered Bridge

(WGN 07-01-H)  (WGCB CT-01-H) (1977)  (1974) A single-span non authentic Stringer truss 50' over Padanaram Brook. Located: In Danbury Township northwest of Danbury, Connecticut at Crown Court Condominiums on Old Bridge Lane. Directions: From I-84, exit 6, take SR 37, 0.5 mile North to Old Bridge Lane and Crown Court on the left. Turn left onto Old Bridge Lane to the bridge less than 0.1 mile to the bridge. The bridge is clearly visible from SR 37 and provides access to an apartment complex. It is the longest single span non authentic Motor vehicle covered bridge in Connecticut. A concrete slab stringer sets on large poured concrete abutments supports the structure. Dark weathered vertical boarding covers the sides on the exterior and interior to rail height as well as the portals. The roof is covered with dark weathered shingles and black asphalt covers the floor. Its ceiling is enclosed with gray weathered longitudinal boards. A wide raised concrete walkway runs down the interior on the downstream side. (Sep 2004)
