13' over a Fish Pond. Located: In Thurmont, Maryland.
Directions: From Frederick, Maryland take US 15 North
(Catoctin Mountain Highway) 14.4 miles to right on Tippin Drive, 109 yards
to traffic light. Make a left onto SR 806 (Frederick Road) 0.2 miles
to arrive at Cozy Family Restaurant parking lot on your left [103 Frederick
Rd, Thurmont, Maryland]. The bridge is located over a small
man made fish pond in front of the restaurant. The original 1967
covered bridge no longer exists. When photographed on March 24, 2004,
it had been replaced by the above pictured lattice structure. It
appears that the existing white painted lattice bridge does use the original
bridges floor and abutments. It should also be noted that our lunch
at Cozy's was superb. (Mar 2004) |
