Rudderow Covered Footbridge
Frederick County, Maryland 
(WGN 20-10-f)  (WGCB MD-10-f):  (1972)  (Private)  A two-span non authentic Stringer truss 32' 6" over a dry ravine.  Located:  In Middletown, Maryland at 4613 Old National Pike (Alternate US 40).  Directions:  From north US 15 and US 340 at jct. US 15 and US 40, in Frederick, Maryland take US 15 and US 40 north 1 exit then take US 40 north.  Continue on US 40 north through Frederick, Maryland to right on Alternate US 40 (Old National Pike).  Continue on Old National Pike (Alt. US 40) and you will intersect with Ridge Road on your right.  Shortly after the intersection with Ridge Road (about 100 to 150 yards) the bridge is located over a dry ravine on top of a hill in the front yard of a residence.  Alternate directions:  From I-70 North, exit 49 take Alternate US 40 (Old National Pike) north towards Middletown, Maryland.  Continue on Old National Pike (Alt. US 40) and you will intersect with Ridge Road on your right.  Shortly after the intersection with Ridge Road (about 100 to 150 yards) the bridge is located over a dry ravine on top of a hill in the front yard of a residence. On private property so ask permission to visit.  The bridge is almost completely concealed by trees and shrubbery.  It is painted red on the exterior and the interior, including the floor.   (Mar 2004)
