29-05-i) (WGCB NH-05-i) (2001) A single-span, Town lattice truss approximately 16' 3" over Barrett Brook. Located: In Bethleham Township in Bethleham, New Hampshire, off Main Street (US 302/SR 10) behind the Bethleham Visitors Center and Historical Museum and is visible from Main Street (US 302/SR 10). Directions: From south of Littleton, New Hampshire, at I-93, exit 40 (US 302/SR 10) go east 3.0 miles to Bethlehem, New Hampshire to the West jct. with SR 142, continue 0.1 mile on US 302/SR 10 (Main Street) to Bethlehem Visitor Center and Historical Museum on the right. The bridge is located at the rear of the parking area behind the Visitor Center. The bridge is the
narrowest Authentic covered footbridge in New Hampshire. The structure rests on poured concrete abutments with wing walls. Each truss consists of a lattice member bolted at all intersections. A single pressure-treated upper plank and , doubled pressure-treated planks sandwich the lattice members. Natural vertical pine boarding covers the sides to rail height, open above to the eaves, exposing the lattice truss, and covers the gables. Its roof is covered with light gray weathered cedar shingles and Crosswise pressure treated planking forms the floor. Also known as the Bethlehem Covered Footbridge. (May 2005) |
