Bartlett-Bartlett Covered Bridge
Carroll County, New Hampshire 
New Hampshire No. 50 (WGN 29-02-02) (WGCB NH 02-02):  (1857; repaired 1966; renovated 1990)    A single-span Paddleford truss, with added Burr arches, 166' 10" over the Saco River.  Located: West Bartlett, New Hampshire.  Directions:  On US 302 4.5 miles east of Bartlett, New Hampshire.  The bridge is plainly visible on the left side of the road.  The bridge was abandoned and closed to traffic in 1939.  In the 1950s, it was used to store snow fence. In 1966 it was sold by the town of Bartlett, New Hampshire to a private individual for $1.00. The new owner had it repaired by Milton Graton as well as a gift and antique shop built inside the bridge. In 1990 the present owners renovated the bridge which consisted of strengthening the arches, replacing cracked members, and removing one layer of decking.  The bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.  (Oct 2003)
