Campton-Bump Covered Bridge
Grafton County, New Hampshire
New Hampshire No. 43 (WGN 29-05-08 #2) (WGCB NH-05-08 #2):  (1972)  Single span Queenpost truss 68' 4" over the Beebe River.  Located:  One mile east of ST 175 at Campton Hollow. Directions:  I-93 exit 37 East to the Blair Covered Bridge (29-05-09).  Cross the Blair Covered Bridge (29-05-09) and make a right onto SR 175.  Continue on SR 175 until the road makes a sharp turn at a small settlement.  Make a left at the "Chalet" onto Perch Pond Road.  The bridge is about 1 mile on the left on Bumps Intervale road.  The original Queenpost bridge was built in 1877.  The current structure was built by Arnold Graton in 1972 after it was determined all of the bottom framing of the original bridge was rotten and there was nothing that could be repaired.  The low cost for replacing the bridge ($2,500) was a result of an agreement with the selectmen of Campton, New Hampshire. This agreement included repairing the Blair Covered Bridge (29-05-09) after work on the Bump Covered Bridge was completed. The bridge rests on timber bents instead of the more commonly used stone abutments. The structure was constructed in a manner replicating the traditional style of covered bridges. Also known as the Webber Covered Bridge.  It has not reached the 50 year National Register of Historic Places age criteria.  (Sep 2003)
