Andover-Cilleyville Covered Bridge
Merrimack County, New Hampshire 
New Hampshire No. 16  (WGN  29-07-01) (WGCB NH-07-01):  (1887; new roof 1962; repaired 1982; renovated 2003) A single-span Town lattice truss 53' over Pleasant Brook.  Located:  At the jct. of SR 11 and SR 4A in Andover, New Hampshire.  Directions:  From I-89 exit 11, go east on SR 11 towards Andover, New Hampshire where SR 11 intersects with SR 4A.  The bridge is located on the right and is clearly visible from the road.  Originally built by a local carpenter by the name of Print Atwood.  It was bypassed in 1959 and restricted to foot traffic.  The roof was re shingled in 1962 at a cost of $600.  On March 9, 1982 the roof caved in from excessive snow load and the town repaired it in July 1982 for $3,400.  It is located in the Cilleyville section of Andover, New Hampshire and was originally known as Bog Bridge.  After the nearby Cilleyville Bridge, spanning the Blackwater river was torn down in 1908, the original Bog Bridge became known as the Cilleyville Bridge.  According to documents posted inside the bridge it has been totally renovated at a cost of $156,000 and on July 5, 2003, reopened to pedestrian traffic. A sign on the bridge indicates that it is now the "Cilleyville Bog Bridge." This bridge was the model for the Shattuck Murals of typical New Hampshire scenes that were on the walls of the State House in Concord, New Hampshire.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in October 1989.  (Sep 2003)
