Northumberland-Groveton Covered Bridge

New Hampshire No. 32 (WGN 29-04-04) (WGCB NH-04-04):  (1852; repaired 1964-65)  A single-span Paddleford truss, with added Burr arches, 126' over the Ammonoosuc River.  Located:  East side US 3 in a park in Groveton, New Hampshire.  Directions:  South on US 3 near jct. US 3 and SR 110 on on the left side of US 3 in a park in Groveton, New Hampshire.  Built by Captain Charles Richardson and his son in 1852. When U.S. Route 3 was reconstructed in 1939, it was bypassed. In 1964-65 it was repaired by Milton Graton and his son Arnold.  A water supply line is suspended beneath the bridge. One of the few New England covered bridges painted both inside and out. It is restricted to foot traffic only.  Also known as the Israles River Covered Bridge.  It is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.  (Oct 2003)
