Jackson-Honeymoon Covered Bridge
Carroll County, New Hampshire 
New Hampshire No. 51 (WGN 29-02-01) (WGCB NH-02-01):  ( c. 1876; sidewalk added 1930; repaired 2004)  A single-span 121' 1" Paddleford truss, with Burr arch, over the Ellis River.   Located:  In Jackson, New Hampshire.  Directions:  2.3 miles north of jct. US 302 at the intersection of SR 16 and SR 16A on Village Street in Jackson, New Hampshire.  Built by Charles Austin Broughton and his son Frank. Charles lived on the Broughton dairy farm on the east side of the Saco River.  According to town records, the sidewalk was added in 1930.  Originally, the trusses were more exposed than they are today. In 1965 the approach from SR 16 was rebuilt to improve visibility and to provide parking.   An article in the Manchester (New Hampshire] Union Leader stated: "HONEYMOON BRIDGE CLOSED UNTIL JUNE.  One of New Hampshire's tourist landmarks, is getting a makeover.  Foot and Motor vehicle traffic will be closed across the Jackson Covered Bridge until June 25 while it gets an $833,000 major face lift.  Work on the structure officially known as the Honeymoon Bridge, involves extensive structural repairs and replacement of some sections of the wooden span." The work has been completed and the bridge reopened to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. It is eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.    (Oct 2003)
