Pittsburg-River Road Covered Bridge

New Hampshire No. 36 (WGN 29-04-02) (WGCB NH-04-02):  (1858)  A single-span Queenpost truss 50' 6" over Perry Stream.   Located:  North of Pittsburg, New Hampshire off US 3 on River Road.  Directions:  From Pittsburg, New Hampshire take US 3 about 6 miles north then a right on River Road 1.2 miles to the bridge.  Not much is known about the bridge and nothing has been recorded in the town records. The bridge is the most northern covered bridge in New Hampshire.  It has now been bypassed and is closed to all but pedestrian traffic.  Periodically, volunteers have undertaken the cleaning of the bridge and making minor repairs. The bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.   (Oct 2003)
