single-span non authentic Stringer truss 20' 3" over Richland Creek.
Located: North of Archdale, North Carolina, at end of Lorraine Avenue.
Directions: From southeast of Archdale, North Carolina, at I-85,
exit 111, US 311 (Main Street); go north on US 311 to Baker Road, on the
right; go 1.8 miles to Alleghany Street, on the left; go 0.3 mile to Lorraine
Avenue, on the left; go 0.2 mile to the end of the road. The bridge
is behind the residence, on the right. On private property so request
permission to visit. The bridge has the distinctions of being the
shortest, and the narrowest (10' 3"), non authentic covered motor vehicle
bridge in North Carolina. It has been closed to motor traffic for
several years. There is a small chalet at the upstream east-southeast corner of the structure.
A short mortared stone pillar and log rail fence along the creek bank joining
the two. The bridge is situated in a densely wooded area, thick woods
on the far side and a various landscape appointments, among the trees,
