Baumgardner's Mill Covered Bridge
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-36-25)  (WGCB PA-36-25)  (1860; restored 1987).  A single-span, Burr arch truss 115' 9.5" over Pequea Creek.  Located:  On Covered Bridge Road, Marticville, Pennsylvania,  between Pequea and Martic Townships, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In the village of Marticville, Pennsylvania, at the jct. of SR 324 and Frogtown Road (TR 415), go east on Frogtown Road for 0.5 mile to Covered Bridge Road (TR 425).  Turn left on Covered Bridge Road (TR 425) and travel for 0.4 mile to the bridge. Originally cost $1,284 to build it was restored in 1987 at a cost of $200,000.  When restored, the bridge was raised 4' and lengthened 9'.  The mill for which it was named is no longer standing.  The bridge is in a valley below a new, modern home.  The siding consists of vertical boards and battens.  The only side openings are the narrow lengthwise ones located under the eaves.  In the reconstruction of the bridge, its older tin roof was replaced with wooden shingles.  It rests on concrete abutments with long concrete wing walls and parapets.  Also known as the Pequea 10 Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1980.  (Oct 2004)
