Bowser Covered Bridge
Bedford County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-05-22)  (WGCB PA-05-22) (1890)  A single-span Burr arch truss 97' 2" over Bobs Creek. Located:  Bypassed by Covered Bridge Road (TR 575), 0.9 mile northwest of Osterburg, East St. Clair Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In Osterburg, Pennsylvania at the jct. of SR 869 and SR 4019, go west on SR 869 for 0.9 mile to Covered Bridge Road (TR 575).  The bridge is just ahead to the left, bypassed by Covered Bridge Road.  It was bypassed in 1973 by a new steel and concrete bridge and is now closed with a cable across the portals.  It has vertical boards on the lower one-third of the exterior sides and wide, horizontal boards on the interior.  The portal gable ends are also covered with horizontal boards.  The Burr arch truss system has an additional horizontal brace that runs the length of the bridge between the two arches.  The roof is sheet metal, and the deck consists of runners laid over crosswise planking.  The structure rests on stone and mortar abutments.  Also known as the Osterburg Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 10, 1980.
