Buck Hill Farm Covered Bridge
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-36-15)  (WGCB PA-36-15)  (1844; relocated 1966) (Private)  A single-span, Burr arch truss 58' over a Farm Pond Inlet.  Located:  On the Buck Hill Farm property, just north of the Lancaster Airport.  Directions:  On SR 501, just north of  the Lancaster Airport and N. Peters Road, the farm is located on the east side of SR 501.  On private property so request permission to visit.  The first bridge was built built c. 1825 and rebuilt in 1844 for $799.  The bridge was originally located near the village of Millway, Pennsylvania, just east of Rothsville, Pennsylvania, in Warwick Township.  The bridge was moved to Buck Hill Farm in 1966.  Mr. Buckwalter, its present owner says his father acquired the bridge sometime during the 1950s or 60s when he learned that it was to be destroyed.  The Buckwalers were extremely friendly and delighted to have us photograph their prize possession.  There are a couple of interesting tree trunks that have been sculpted in an indian motif.  The bridge is also known as the Eichelberger's Mill Covered Bridge, the Abram Hess’ Mill Covered Bridge, the Hess Mill Covered Bridge and the Eichelberger’s Store Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980.  (Oct 2004)
