Carmichael Covered Bridge
Greene County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-30-21)  (WGCB PA-30-21)  (1889; refurbished 1998)  A single-span Queenpost truss 64' 8" over Muddy Creek.   Located:  On Old Town Road (sign indicated Old Town Street) (TR 684) in Carmichaels, Cumberland Township. Pennsylvania.   Directions:  In Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, at the intersection of East George Street (SR 99) and Vine Street (SR 1021), go east on Vine Street for 1 block to Market Street.  Turn left (north) on Market Street and go 0.2 mile to Old Town Road (sign indicated Old Town Street)  (TR 684); turn left to the bridge.  The bridge is covered with white, vertical board and batten siding on both the sides and portals.   The roof is covered with sheet metal, and a deck of lengthwise runners laid over crosswise planking.  The structure rests on cut stone and mortar abutments that extend to road level wing walls.  One of the abutments has been reinforced with concrete.  The Queenpost truss has been reinforced with additional diagonal timbers.  The bridge was refurbished in 1998.  Also known as the Carmichael's Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1979.  (Oct 2005)
