Chalker Covered Bridge
Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-58-B) (WGCB PA-58-B):  (1991)  A single-span non authentic Stringer truss 51' over Wyalusing Creek.  Located:  West south west of Montrose, Jessup Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  SR 706 west 3.1 miles from jct. with SR 29 in Montrose, Pennsylvania to the bridge on the north side of the road.  There were signs that the bridge was being slowly rehabilitated.  The structure rests on stone abutments with short stone wing walls.  There is a hand painted sign on the portal indicating the bridges name is "Echo-Hollow."  A unique feature are hinges on the bridges portals that allow them to be swung up to allow clearance for various farm vehicles.  The sides and portals are covered with barn red painted vertical siding.  There is one opposing window opening on each side with white painted uncut tree limbs simulating a Town lattice truss.  The deck consists of crosswise planking and it has a metal roof.  Also known as the Echo-Hollow Covered Bridge.  (May 2009)
