restored 1998) A single-span multiple Kingpost with Burr arch truss
91' 10" over Larry's Creek. Located: On Covered Bridge
Road (the road dead ends after passing through the bridge) Cogan House
Township, Pennsylvania. Directions: In Brookside, Pennsylvania,
from the jct. of SR 287 and SR 184, go east on SR 184 for 3.1 miles to
Campbell Road (TR 784), turn right (south) for 1.3 miles to Covered Bridge
Road , turn right for 0.1 mile to the bridge. It was restored in
1998 at a cost of $105,493.00. It reopened on October 30, 1998, the
same day as the Buttonwood Covered Bridge (WGN
38-41-01).
The
structure rests on dry stone abutments with concrete reinforcements at
the ends of the Burr arches. The sides and portals are covered
with barn red painted horizontal clapboard siding with approximately four
foot wide openings under the eaves for ventilation. The floor consists
of wide crosswise boarding and two four board lengthwise runners and a
shake roof. Also known as the Buckhorn Covered Bridge.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1980.
