Dellville Covered Bridge
 Perry County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-50-16)  (WGCB PA-50-16)  (1889)  A single-span multiple Kingpost with double Burr arches truss 174' 7" over Sherman’s Creek.  Located:  On Pine Hill Road, Dellville, Wheatfield Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In Dellville, Pennsylvania, where SR 2002 makes a ninety degree turn, Pine Hill Road goes to the southwest.  The bridge is visible from this intersection on Pine Hill Road.  This is the most easterly covered bridge spanning Sherman’s Creek.  It is the longest and widest bridge in Perry County.  It has high double Burr arches (one on top of the other), reinforced with additional diagonal bracing, that sandwich the multiple Kingpost structure.  It is painted barn red, and trimmed with white.  It has vertical board and batten siding on both the sides and the portal and a metal roof.  The deck consists of crosswise planking which, is overlaid with lengthwise planking.  The bridge has three windows on the southeast side and two on the northwest side in addition to the openings under the eaves.  The structure rests on concrete abutments and a center concrete pier and its stone and mortar wing walls and parapets at the northeast end have been rebuilt  Those at the southwest end look like the original ones, however, they have been reinforced with concrete.  The bridges structure has been strengthened with steel beams and tie rods under the deck.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 25, 1980.   (Sep 2006)
