Dimmsville Covered Bridge
 Juniata County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-34-02)  (WGCB PA-34-02)  (1902)  A two-span Burr arch truss 278' 6.5" over Tuscarora Creek.  Located:  On a section of bypassed SR 2017, just north of Dimmsville, Greenwood Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  Just north of Dimmsville, Pennsylvania at the jct. of SR 235 and SR 2017, go south on SR 2017 for 1.1 mile to the bridge.  The bridge is just south of SR 2017, adjacent to a cleared storage area.  The bridge was bypassed with a new concrete and steel bridge.  Its truss system features two Burr arches side by side with a Queenpost truss separating each arch.  It is covered with faded white painted vertical boards on both sides and portals.  It has a metal roof, and a deck of lengthwise planks.  There are rectangular windows in the center on each side in addition to the lengthwise openings under the eaves.  The structure rests on stone and mortar abutments with stone and mortar wing walls and parapets that rise just a little above the original road level.  One end of the bridge leans noticeably.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 1979.   (Sep 2006)
