A single-span Burr arch truss 86' 6" over Dunning Creek. Located:
SE of Pleasantville, Pennsylvania. About 1.5 miles SE of jct. SR 96 on
SR 56, then right 0.2 miles on Chestnut Ridge Road to the bridge. It is closed
to motor traffic. Located: Along Dunning Creek Road (TR 671)
approximately ¼ mile southeast of Pleasantville, West St. Clair
Township, Pennsylvania. Directions: From Snook’s Covered Bridge
(WGN 38-05-23), continue through the bridge
on Fish Hatchery Road (TR 578) and turn right immediately on Ridge Market
Road (TR 554). Travel 0.6 mile to the jct. with SR 56, cross SR 56
and the road name will change to Dunning Creek Road (TR 671). Continue
on Dunning Creek Road (TR 671) for 0.1 mile. The bridge is to the
right of the road on Private Property. As of April 27, when we photographed
the bridge the present owners had not posted the property with “No Trespassing”
signs. The bridge is covered on only the lower one-third of the sides
by vertical boards outside and horizontal boards inside. The portals
are covered with horizontal boards. The roof is sheet metal, and
the deck is a mixture of crosswise and lengthwise planking. The abutments,
wingwalls, and parapets were originally stone and mortar, but one of the
abutments has started to fall away and has been reinforced with concrete.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 10,
