80' 3.5" over Hammer Creek. Located: On Picnic Woods Road (TR

owned a large tract of land in this area, and is one of the few Lancaster

the bridge are covered with barn red, vertical board and batten siding,
and the portals are covered with white vertical boards without battens.
The structure rests on stone and mortar abutments, and has stone and mortar wing walls
and parapets, and lengthwise openings under the eaves. In 1974 the
roof was recovered with wooden shakes. It was closed during 1996
for some repair work. Also known as the Hammer 1
Covered Bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic
Places on December 10, 1980. (Oct 2004) |
