A single-span Town lattice truss 57' over Roaring Rocks Creek. Located:
On Geigel Road, just west of Erwinna, Tinicum Township, Pennsylvania.
Directions: In Erwinna, Pennsylvania at the jct. of SR 32 and Headquarters
Road, go west on Headquarters Road for 0.3 mile to Geigel Hill Road; turn
right on Geigel Hill Road and travel for 0.2 mile to the bridge.
The shortest remaining covered bridge in Bucks County. Rebuilt in
1996 at an estimated cost of $240,000.00. The work was started in
February 1996 and completed the fall of 1996. The abutments were
strengthened, the siding was replaced and painted, and a new cedar shakes
were placed on the roof. The structure rests on stone and mortar
abutments, each capped with a concrete slab and the wing walls are stone
and mortar capped with concrete. It has faded barn red painted vertical
boarding on the sides and faded white painted vertical boarding on the
portals and splash panels. The portal has a angular opening.
The deck consists of lengthwise planking, heavily reinforced with steel
I-beams, and it has a cedar shake roof. It was listed on the National
Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980. (Jun 2008) |
