Forry's Mill Covered Bridge
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-36-28)  (WGCB PA-36-28)  (1869; repaired 1925; renovated c. 2004)  A single-span, multiple Kingpost with double Burr arch truss, 102' 1" over Chickies Creek.  Located:  On Bridge Valley Road (TR 365) between Rapho and West Hempfield Townships, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In Silver Springs, Pennsylvania, go west on SR 23 for approximately 2.5 miles to Bridge Valley Road (TR 365).  Turn right (north) on Bridge Valley Road (TR 365) for approximately 0.3 mile to the bridge.  The Bridge was originally built at a cost of $2,969.  In 1925 minor repairs were made to the structure.  The bridge was named for the Forry family, who lived in the old stone house on the adjoining property.  It has one concrete abutment and one made of stone and mortar.  It is covered with vertical board and batten siding and has a shake roof.  Publications of 1994 indicated that substantial damage was done to one wing wall, parapet, and portal side and that repairs which included a new roof and structural support beams, were to be made over a six year span.  When photographed on October 26, 2004 it appeared as though all scheduled repair work had been completed.   It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1980.  (Oct 2004)
