Harmon Covered Bridge
Indiana County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-32-04) (WGCB PA-32-04):  (1910)  A single-span Town lattice truss 45' 9" over South Branch of Plum Creek.  Located:  On bypassed Donahue Road (TR 488), approximately 1.2 miles east of Willet, Washington Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  Just east of Willet, Pennsylvania at the jct. of SR 954 and Five Points Road (SR 4006), go northeast on Five Points Road (SR 4006) for 1.6 miles to Donahue Road (TR 488).  Turn right on Donahue Road (TR 488) and go 0.1 mile to the bridge on the right.  Looking to the West, the Trusal Covered Bridge (WGN 38-32-03) can be seen just one half mile away, crossing the same stream.  The bridge was built at a cost of $525.00.  It was bypassed by a new uncovered wooden bridge in 1984.  A sign on the portal states "Harmon's 1910."  The structure rests on cut stone abutments with short cut stone wing walls.  The sides are covered with barn red painted, random width, vertical boarding and the portals are covered with white painted vertical boarding.  Open under the eaves for ventilation.   The floor consists of wide lengthwise planking and it has a metal roof that projects beyond the entrances to provide additional weather protection for the interior. Also known as the Harmon's Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 1979.  (Jun 2009)
