moved and rebuilt 1982) A single-span Burr arch truss 105' 5" over
a Tributary of Middle Creek. Located: On Railroad Street, Beaver

0.1 mile to Railroad Street; turn right on Railroad Street for 0.1 mile
to the bridge. Originally built across Middle Creek, one mile northwest
of its present location. This bridge was rebuilt in the town of Beaver
Springs in 1982. It is covered with barn red vertical board and batten
siding on both the sides and the portals. The roof is sheet metal,
and the deck has runners down the center laid over crosswise planking.
The structure rests on poured concrete abutments that extend to short wing
walls. The stone and mortar parapets are approximately two feet high
and rise above the wing walls. The only side openings are fairly
wide running lengthwise directly under the eaves. There is a plaque
mounted on the portal indicating the bridges name as "Gross Covered
Bridge." However when the World Guide Number was assigned it
was referred to as the "Klinepeter Covered Bridge." Also known
as the Overflow Covered Bridge. It was listed on the National
Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1977. (Sep 2006) |
