A single-span multiple Kingpost with Queenpost truss 71' 1.5" over Big
Buffalo Creek. Located: On bypassed section of Fritz Road (TR
332), approximately 1 mile south of Saville, Saville Township, Pennsylvania.
Directions: Approximately 1 mile south of Saville, Pennsylvania,
stay straight on SR 17, and do not follow road signs to Saville, Pennsylvania,
approximately 3 miles to Fritz Road (TR 332) on the left. Take Fritz
Road (TR 332) approximately 0.2 miles to the bridge on your left.
This privately owned bridge was, at one time, being used for storage
of farm equipment. It is painted barn red, and trimmed with white
which is badly faded. The sides and portals are covered with narrow,
vertical boards. Its roof is covered with corrugated metal, and the
deck is crosswise planking, and the structure rests on concrete abutments
with short, concrete wing walls rising to form parapets along the approaches,
approximately two feet above road level. The only side openings run
lengthwise directly under the eaves. It was listed on the National
Register of Historic Places on August 25, 1980. (Sep 2006) |
