Kurtz's Mill Covered Bridge
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-36-03)  (WGCB PA-36-03)  (1876; salvaged and moved and restored 1972).  A single-span, Burr arch truss, 96' 8" over Mill Creek.  Located:  On Kiwanis Road, Lancaster County Central Park, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  Lancaster County Central Park is located approximately 2.5 miles from the center of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, just east of US 222.  At the jct. of US 222 and Golf Road, travel east on Golf Road into the park.  Turn right on Kiwanis Road to the bridge.  During the Hurricane Agnes flood of 1972, the rising Conestoga River washed the structure downstream a considerable distance, where it became hung up on a large maple tree.  Following this calamity, the bridge was moved fifteen miles by trailer to Lancaster County Central Park.  The original cost of construction in 1876 was $1,407.  Approximately 100 years later, the cost of moving the structure was $5,000, and the cost of restoration was $55,000.  The bridge was rededicated on April 22, 1975.  In its restored condition, it is covered with vertical board and batten siding and a shake roof.  Also known as the Baer’s Mill Covered Bridge, the Keystone Mill Covered Bridge, the Binder Tongue Carrier Covered Bridge, and the Mill 2A Covered Bridge.  (Oct 2004)
