Landis Mill Covered Bridge
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-36-16)  (WGCB PA-36-16)  (1873) A single-span, multiple Kingpost truss 52' 8.5" over Little Conestoga Creek.  Located:  On the northwest edge of Park City Mall, between East Hempfield Township and the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In northwest Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on Harrisburg Avenue, enter Park City Mall on Plaza Avenue.  Go to the first traffic light and turn left on Shreiner Station Road to the bridge. The bridge was built at a cost of $969.  It is the only multiple Kingpost truss covered bridge in Lancaster County.  It is heavily used due to the proximity to the shopping center and a modern housing development in the area.  At one time, the bridge was part of the farm property of John L. Landis, who also owned a mill in the area.  It is covered with barn red vertical board and batten siding and is resting on stone and mortar abutments with stone and mortar wing walls and parapets.  The parapets are capped with concrete.  One of the abutments has been reinforced with concrete, and heavy traffic has necessitated the erection of heavy, steel guardrails along the north side of the road approaches.  The bridge is also known as the Little Conestoga 1 Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980.  (Oct 2004)
