A single-span, with four wooden supports, Queenpost truss, 67' 7" over Templeton
Fork of the Wheeling Creek. Location: On Miller Creek Road
(TR 414), approximately 3.5 miles southeast of West Finley, Pennsylvania.
Directions: In West Finley, Pennsylvania, at the jct. of West Finley
Road (SR 3037) and Burnsville Ridge Road, go south on West Finley Road (SR 3037)
for 2.4 miles to Enon Church Road. Turn left on Enon Church Road
and go 0.7 mile to Miller Creek Road (TR 414). Turn left on Miller
Creek Road (TR 414) and go 0.3 mile to the bridge. The bridge is
in a secluded area along a gravel township road. A rather long Queenpost
truss structure that has four wooden trestle supports under its deck.
Barn red vertical board siding covers the sides and the portals and it
has a sheet metal roof with a deck of crosswise planking. It also
has three rectangular windows on each side in addition to the narrow eave
openings. The structure rests on cut stone and mortar abutments that
have been extended to form short, stone and mortar wing walls, one of which
is capped with concrete. It was listed on the National Register
of Historic Places on June 22, 1979. (Apr 2005) |
