(Private) A two-span multiple Kingpost truss 44' 11" over an unnamed
brook. Located: On Mirkwood Road, approximately 3 miles north
of Northumberland, Point Township, Pennsylvania. Directions:
Approximately 3 miles north of Northumberland, Pennsylvania, at the jct.
of SR 147 and Ridge Road (TR 703), go east for 0.5 mile on Ridge Road (TR
703) to Mirkwood Road. Turn left on Mirkwood Road for 0.2 mile to
the bridge. The bridge is located at the entrance to private property
labeled “Northwood,” which is owned by Steve and Katie Mertz.
It is sided with vertical boards on the lower half of the sides and on
the gable end of the portal. The roof is covered with corrugated
metal, and the deck consists of runners laid over diagonal crosswise planking.
It has a deck reinforced with two, lengthwise, steel I-beans. The
structure rests on poured concrete abutments and a center pier. The
bridge has no wing walls. Also known as the Northwood Covered
