A single-span Town lattice truss 120' 3 " over the East Branch of Perkiomen
Creek. Located: On Blooming Glen Road, on the northeast
edge of Perkasie, East Rockhill Township, Pennsylvania.
Directions: In Perkasie, Pennsylvania,
go north on North Fifth Street to the jct. with Callowhill Road (traffic
light at the jct.), turn left on Callowhill Road to a four way stop sign,
then left on Branch Road then left on Blooming Glen Road (one way through
the bridge) to a parking area on the left. There is some controversy
as to the bridges name. The World Guide of Covered Bridges
lists the bridges name as Mood.
The Covered Bridges of Pennsylvania book, given out by the state,
lists the bridges name as Mood's Mill
with a alternate of Branch. The
original 1873 structure burned down June 23, 2004. It was rebuilt
in 2008. The structure rests on the original stone and mortar abutments,
and has long stone and mortar wing walls capped with concrete. It
has red painted vertical boarding on the sides with white painted vertical
portals and splash panels. The portal has a angled opening.
The deck consists of crosswise planking and it has a shake roof.
Also known as the Mood's Covered Bridge and the Branch Covered
Bridge. (Jun 2008) |
