Neddie Woods Covered Bridge
Greene County, Pennsylvania 
(WGN 38-30-26)  (WGCB PA-30-26)  (1882)  A single-span, Queenpost truss, 45' 5" over Pursley Creek.  Located:  On Woods Road (TR 582), approximately 1 miles north of Oak Forest, Center Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  Just south of East View, Pennsylvania, at the jct. of SR 18/SR 21 and Oak Forest Road (SR 3013), go south on Oak Forest Road (SR 3013) for 1.8 miles to Woods Road (TR 582).  The bridge is just to the right on Woods Road (TR 582).  This is the oldest covered bridge remaining in Greene County.  It was named for Edward (Ned or Neddie) W. Wood, a Civil War veteran who owned the land on which the bridge was built in 1882.  The bridge is covered with unpainted vertical board siding on both the sides and portals, the roof is of corrugated sheet metal, and the deck is covered with crosswise planking.  The only openings are the lengthwise ones immediately under the eaves.  The structure is reinforced with five steel I beams and rest on cut stone abutments which extend to moderately long wing walls.  The portal sign indicates the bridges name as "Woods."  It is also known as the Nettie Woods Covered Bridge, the Nettie Wood Covered Bridge as well as the Woods Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1979.  (Oct 2005)
