 Snyder and Junita Counties, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-55-05/WGN 38-34-05)  (WGCB PA-55-05/WGCB PA-34-05): (1908; rebuilt 1987;  repaired 2000)  A single-span multiple Kingpost with Burr arch truss 68' 11" over Mahantango Creek.  Located:  On SR 2023, just north of Orinental, Junita County, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In Orinental, Pennsylvania at the jct. of SR 2023 and SR 2024, go north on SR 2023 for 2 miles to the bridge.  The bridge was rebuilt in 1987 after being damaged by a truck.  It is painted barn red and covered with vertical boards and batten siding on both the sides and portals.  It has a sheet metal roof, a deck of crosswise planks with steel reinforcing under the deck, and heavy steel guardrails to protect its portals.  The structure rests on stone and mortar abutments laid on poured concrete footing and has low road level wing walls.  The only side openings run lengthwise directly under the eaves.  The deck has been heavily reinforced with I-beams.  On June 2, 2000, an oversized vehicle was driven through the bridge damaging the portals on the north end, loosened all the angle braces and the roof stringers, and completely removed the portal on the south end.  Repairs were made and the bridge reopened in early July 2000.  Also known as the North Oriental Covered Bridge, the Curry's Corner Covered Bridge, and the Beaver Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 1979.  (Sep 2006)
