This is one of the nine bridges in Bedford County still being used for
vehicular traffic. It was named for the town of Ryot, located just
to the west of the bridge. Underwent restoration in 1995, burned
in 2002 and rebuilt in 2004. It has bright white vertical boards
on the sides and covers about three-fourths of the bridges height, and
white, horizontal boards with red trim cover the portals. The lower
three feet of the interior sides are covered with horizontal boards.
The roof is corrugated metal, and the deck consists of runners laid over
crosswise planking. The bridge rests on reconstructed stone and mortar
faced abutments with road level, stone and mortar wingwalls. The
original structure, which was burned by arsonist in 2002, was listed
on the National Register of Historic Places on April 10, 1980. (Apr
