low overhead clearance and a wide opening gives it the appearance of being
broader than normal. It was renovated in 1995. The structure
rests on stone and mortar abutments that have been reinforced with concrete
and it also has three, moderately long, stone and mortar wing walls and
are capped with concrete. The fourth wingwall is completely concrete.
The bridge is covered with barn red painted, vertical board and batten
siding on the sides and white painted, ship lapped siding on the portals.
It is open under the eves for ventilation and there is one small opposing
horizontal window on each side. The deck consists of lengthwise planking,
the interior is painted white and it has a slate roof. Also known
as the
Schlicher's Covered Bridge. It was listed on the National
Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980. (Jun 2008) |
