multiple Kingpost with Burr arch truss 37' 10" over Bens Creek.
Located: On Covered Bridge Road (TR 634). Approximately 2 miles
west of Bens Creek, Conemaugh Township, Pennsylvania. Directions:
At the east end of Bens Creek, Pennsylvania, at the jct. of SR 403 and
SR 985, go west on SR 985 for 1.95 miles to Covered Bridge Road (TR 634).
Turn left on Covered Bridge Road (TR 634) and go 0.1 mile to the bridge.
It has vertical board and batten siding which cover the lower half
of the exterior sides, and vertical board cover the lower three feet of
the interior. The upper half of the sides are open, exposing just
the top edge of the low, six ply laminated Burr arch and the upper part
of the sandwiched multiple Kingpost truss. The portals are covered
with vertical boards and a sheet metal roof. Its deck consists of
crosswise planking and the structure rests on cut stone and mortal abutments
and has no wing walls. It is also known as the Ben's Creek Covered
Bridge and the Bens Creek Covered Bridge. It was listed
on the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 1980.
