Sherman Covered Bridge
Erie County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-25-02) (WGCB PA-25-02):  (1870)  A single-span multiple Kingpost truss 85' over West Branch of the Conneaut Creek.  Located:  On Barney Road, approximately 3 miles south of Cherry Hill, Conneaut Township, Pennsylvania. Directions: Approximately 2 miles west of Albion, Pennsylvania at the jct. of US 6 north and SR 215, go west on US 6 north for 1 mile to Barney Road, turn left on Barney Road and go 1.5 miles to the bridge.  The structure rests on poured concrete abutments which extend to create short road level wing walls.  The bridge has been heavily reinforced with four large, steel I-beams.  It is covered with unpainted vertical boards only on the sides and splash panels. The portals are framed but not covered.  The deck consists of crosswise planking resting on edges and a shake covered roof that projects beyond the entrances to provide additional weather protection for the interior.  Also known as the Harrington Covered Bridge and the Keepville Covered Bridge.   It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 17, 1980.  (Oct 2008)
