A single-span multiple Kingpost with Burr arch truss 157' 2" over Big Fishing Creek. Located:
On Wesley Street, Stillwater, Fishing Creek Township, Pennsylvania.
Directions: South of the village of Stillwater, Pennsylvania at the
jct. of SR 487 and SR 1022, go north on SR 487 for 1.5 miles to Wesley
Street. On the right side of SR 487, across from the U.S. Post Office,
turn right on Wesley Street to the bridge. Built by James McHenry,
whose family was among the first to settle in the Stillwater area, at a
cost of $1,124.00. The bridge has a high Burr arch which sandwiches
a multiple Kingpost truss. The structure has an unusual portal at
the east end, curved wing walls, and an angled portal opening. The
deck has a unusual diagonal herringbone plank pattern. Its sides
are covered with vertical boards and batten siding while the portals are
covered with horizontal clipboard siding. Closed to motor traffic.
There appears to have been no repairs or restoration work done on the structure.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 29,
