Waterford Covered Bridge

(WGN 38-25-04) (WGCB PA-25-04):  (1875)  A single-span Town lattice truss 85' 11" over LeBoeuf Creek.  Located:  On South East Street just east of Waterford, Waterford Township, Pennsylvania. Directions: In Waterford, Pennsylvania at the jct. of US 19 and East First Street, go east on East First Street for 0.3 mile to South East Street. Turn right on South East Street and go 0.9 to the bridge. This is the only Town lattice truss covered bridge in Erie County.  The structure rests on poured concrete abutments and  has no wing walls.  It is covered with barn red painted vertical boards on both the sides and the portals and open under the eaves for ventilation.  The deck consists of runners laid over crosswise planking set on edge and a shake covered roof.  Also known as the Wattsburg Road Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 17, 1980.  (Oct 2008)
