Cushman Covered Bridge
Spartenburg County, South Carolina 
(WGN 40-42-A)  (WGCB SC-42-A)  (1991)  (Private)  A single-span non authentic Stringer truss 39' over Abner Creek.  Located:  South of Duncan, South Carolina off Mayfield Road.  Directions:  From I-85, exit 60, south of Greer, South Carolina, take at SR 101, going south 0.3 mile to Leonard Road, on the right; go 0.8 mile to Mayfield Road; go left 0.3 mile to the bridge, on the left at the end of the pasture, partially visible from the roadway.  On private property so request permission to visit.  The structure is supported by three steel I-beams stringers, set on poured concrete and timber abutments, on the left downstream end, and an abutment constructed with four upright wood utility poles, capped with a timber crossbeam, on the right downstream end.  The flooring is constructed with transverse planks.  The sides and gables are covered with weathered vertical with rectangular window openings on each side.  Its tin roof is supported by six wood posts along each side.  The owner was not home and we were unable to acquire permission to visit so all shots were taken from Mayfield Road.  (Mar 2006)
