The Stillhouse Covered Footbridge
Spartenburg County, South Carolina 
(WGN 40-42-c)  (WGCB SC-42-c)   (1980)  (Private)  A two-span non authentic Stringer truss 18' 2" over Tims Creek.  Located:  In Moore, South Carolina in southwest corner US 221 and Stillhouse Road.  Directions:  From Spartanburg, South Carolina, go south on I-26 to Exit 28, at US 221, go left 0.1 mile on US 221 to Stillhouse Road, the first road on the right.  The bridge is at the Costello's Restaurant (formerly Stillhouse Restaurant), on the right.  The structure is supported by two steel I-beams stringers, resting on poured concrete footings on the creek banks and poured concrete pillars for a pier, one pillar under each stringer.  It has a plywood floor, secured to thirty seven wood plank floor joists, set on edge on the stringers.  Weathered vertical boarding with battens covers the sides and portals.  There are five vertical, single, pane glass windows are on each side, and double, glass swinging doors are at each entrance.  The interior was air conditioned, with carpeted floor and paneled walls, to provide a waiting room for the restaurant.  Its tin roof is supported by studding.  Also known as the Walnut Grove Seafood Restaurant Covered Footbridge. When photographed on March 14, 2006, The original parking lot that the bridge served had been closed and a new parking lot for the restaurant had been built next to the building.  The bridge has been closed and is now used as a storage area for the restaurant.   (Mar 2006)
