Stringer truss 10' 2" over a unnamed brook. Located: In Waterville
Township in Waterville, Vermont, off SR 109. Directions: From
the center of Waterville, Vermont, at the jct of SR 109 and Church
Street, go south 0.25 mile on SR 109 to the bridge visible on the left.
On private property so request permission to visit. Built over a
small cascading spillway between two small man-made ponds along a narrow
unnamed brook. The lumber for the bridge came from cedar and hemlock
trees growing on the property. A double hemlock plank stringer is
under each wall and two hemlock plank stringers are evenly spaced between
support the structure. The floor consists of crosswise thick deck
boards fastened to the stringers. Gray weathered boarding covers
the sides to rail height, open above to the eaves and the gables are
uncovered. Gray cedar shingles covered the roof which is supported
by double plank posts in the corners. (Sep 2004) |
