in November 2003. Restricted to sleigh and carriage rides, it is
part of a scenic ride on horse drawn carriages and or a six passenger wagonette
through the bridge onto a winding wooded trail along a brook then into
a meadow with spectacular views of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak,
then back again through the covered bridge. Gentle Giants Sleigh
& Carriage Rides is open daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (weather permitting).
It is featured and recommended by Yankee Magazine. For reservations
and information call (802) 253-2216. The structure is supported by
five posts on each side. Barn red vertical boarding covers the portals
and sides and there are two opposing horizontal window openings along each
side. The bridge has a dirt floor and the roof is covered with silver
painted galvanized steel. Also known as the Charlie Horse Sleigh
Covered Bridge. (Sep 2007) |
