Gorham Covered Bridge
Rutland County, Vermont 
(WGN  45-11-04 #2) (WGCB VT-11-04 #2):  (c. 1841; repaired 1928, 1956; renovated 2003-04)  A single-span Town lattice 114' 8" over Otter Creek.   Located:  North of Proctor, Vermont off SR 3 on Gorham Bridge Road.  Directions:  The bridge is 1.6 miles west from jct. of SR 3 and Main Street in Proctor, Vermont or 1.9 miles from the intersections of SR 3 and US 7 in Pittsford Mills, Vermont, 0.5 mile down Gorham Bridge Road.  It was washed off its abutments in the flood of 1927 but was in good enough condition to be hauled out of the water in 1928 and repaired.  There were major repairs were made in 1956 and again in 1979, but with the exception of two distribution beams tie-bolted under the deck timber, the bridge remained structurally the same as when built.  The bridge was closed to traffic prior to September 2002 and when the first photographs were taken on September 8, 2003, a temporary bridge crossed Otter Creek and the bridge was on dry ground being totally renovated.  The renovations were completed in 2004 and when photographed again on May 17, 2005, the bridge was once again in service. Also know as the Goodnough Covered Bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 12, 1974.  (Sep 2003, May 2005)
