Lord's Creek Covered Bridge
Orleans County, Vermont
(WGN 45-10-01) (WGCB VT-10-01):  (1881)  (Private)  (1881; floor repaired after 1958)  (Private)  A single-span Paddleford truss 50' over the Black River.  Located:  East of Irasburg, Vermont on Covered Bridge Road (or Old Dump Road).  Directions:  From the southern jct. of SR 14 and SR 58 in Irasburg, Vermont, go 0.5 mile east and make a right on Covered Bridge Road (on some maps Old Dump Road) 0.7 mile to bridge on the left on a farm.  Named for the waterway it originally spanned (which enters the Black River not far from here), it was moved by dairy farmer Joseph Leblond to this location in 1958 after its abutments were washed out and it was bypassed by a new concrete steel bridge in 1957 to provide access to his farm property. Since being relocated several repairs have been made to the flooring and the floor beams.  Its sides and portals are uncovered.  The floor has longitudinal planking with wheel treads, fastened to the transverse floor beams, secured to the lower chords.  It has a old, slightly rusted, galvanized steel roof and there are swinging steel cattle gates at the west entrance.  Also known as the LeBlond Farm Covered Bridge, the Lords Creek Covered Bridge and the Orne Covered Bridge.  (Oct 2003)
