County, Vermont
(WGN 45-03-06)
(WGCB VT-03-06): (1878, restored 1995) A single-span Queenpost
truss 56' over Miller's Run. Located: North of Lyndon Center, Vermont
on SR 122. Directions: 1 mile NE of jct. US 5 and SR 122 on
SR 122 just north of Lyndon Center, Vermont. The bridge was taken apart
and restored in 1995. Steel I-beams were added under the flooring,
repaired or replaced the trusses (about half of the original trusses were
retained), added the walkway, and replaced the roof, flooring and siding.
It is the only remaining covered bridge in Vermont still in active use
as part of the State highway system. Since last photographed in 2003, traffic
lights have been installed at the bridge. The structure rests on
poured concrete abutments with wing walls. Vertical boarding covers
the upstream side to rail height and under the eaves and the outer side
of the walkway to rail height. Vertical boarding also covers the
portals over the vehicle lane. The walkway roof is attached to the
bridge just under the eaves. A steel roof covers both the bridge
and walkway. The bridge is painted white on the exterior as well
as the interior. Also known as the Bradley Covered Bridge Bridge.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1977.
