Then circa 2002 some roof boards were replaced and a new standing-seam
steel roof replaced the previous metal one. The structure has a very
slight camber. It has vertical plank siding and portals, the sides
are open directly under the eves for ventilation and the floor consists
of 2' x 4' boards set on edge. Also known as the Brown's Covered
Bridge, the Upper Covered Bridge (the furthest bridge upstream
crossing Lewis Creek), the Prindle Corners Covered Bridge (from
the nearby community), the Sherman Covered Bridge (the name of the
bridges builder) and the Sequin Covered Bridge (arrived at through
usage from Seguin and became commonly accepted, but the origin of
Seguin is unknown). It was listed on the National Register of Historic
Places on September 6, 1974. (Sep 2004) |
