Sugarmill Farm Covered Bridge
Orleans County, Vermont 
(WGN 45-10-C) (WGCB VT-10-C):  (1988) (Private) A single-span non authentic Stringer truss 49' 7" over the Barton River. Located: In Barton Township south of Barton, Vermont, at The Sugarmill Farm off SR 16. Directions: From Barton, Vermont, take SR 16 south to The Sugarmill Farm on the right, just past the I-91 exit 25 intersection. The bridge is to the left of the main building and leads to the farms maple syrup producing facility which had produced Vermont Maple Syrup for over 70 years. The facility and store closed in 2004. Since the stores closing, it is not known who to ask to gain permission to visit the bridge. Four large steel I-beam stringers set on stacked, large concrete blocks support the structure. The deck has wide runners laid over crosswise planking. Gray vertical boards covers the sides to rail height, open above to the eaves. The bridge has a green painted window box mounted along each side on the railing between the middle two roof supports and the portals are covered with brown weathered vertical boarding. Six timber posts along each side, braced at the top, support the gray cedar shingled roof. Also known as the Auger Sugarmill Covered Bridge and the Sugarmill Covered Bridge. (Oct 2003)
