Sylvester Covered Footbridge

(WGN 45-06-m)  (WGCB VT-06-m):  (2002) (Private) A single-span Town lattice truss 12' 2" over a pond outlet between two ponds. Located: In Montgomery Township north of West Hill, Vermont, at 1449 West Hill Road. Directions: From Montgomery, Vermont, go west 0.6 mile on SR 118 to West Hill Road on the left (just past Hill West Road on the left), go 1.5 miles to No 1449 on the left. Or, from East Berkshire, Vermont, at the jct. of SR 105 and SR 118, go south 4.3 miles on SR 118 to West Hill Road on the right. On private property so request permission to visit. The shortest authentic covered footbridge in Vermont. The truss, set on timbers laid transversely on small river stones at each end, supports the structure. Each truss is constructed with rough cut board lattice members. Weathered gray vertical rough cut boards cover the sides to the eaves and there is a horizontal window opening centered on each side. It has a brown painted metal roof. (Sep 2004)
