Jack's Creek Covered Bridge
Patrick County, Virginia 
(WGN 46-68-02)  (WGCB VA-68-02):   (1914; widened and new roof 1969; Restored 1974)  A single-span Queenpost truss 48' over the Smith River.  Located:  South of Woolwine, Virginia on a bypassed section of Jacks Creek Road (SR 615).  Directions:  From I-81, exit 114 take  SR 8 [W Main Street] (South) 164 yards; bear left (South) onto SR 8 [Riner Road] 9.7 miles; bear right (South) onto SR 8 9.8 miles; bear left (South-East) onto SR 8 [Locust Street] 0.1 mile; bear right (South) onto SR 8 [S Locust Street] 0.7 mile; bear right (South) onto SR 8 14.1 miles; at SR 615, Stuart, VA 24171, bear RIGHT (West) onto SR 615 174 yards; arrive SR 615, Stuart, Virginia and approximate location of bridge.  Bridge is visible from both SR 8 and SR 615.  Built to serve Jack's Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was named for the church.  A major restoration by the Virginia Department of Highways completed in November 1974, at a cost of $4,554.14.  It was bypassed in 1932, by a steel I-beam stringer bridge with a wood planked deck and subsequently closed to motor traffic.  Also known as the Upper Covered Bridge.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 22,1973.  (Mar 2004)
